The rules that govern your use of CeylonServices.lk

1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to CeylonServices.lk. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and CeylonServices.lk (“we”, “us”, “our”) governing your access to and use of our website, mobile site, and related services (collectively, the “Platform”).

By registering, logging in, or using any part of the Platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.

2. What CeylonServices.lk Is

CeylonServices.lk is a Sri Lankan local-services marketplace that helps customers discover and book verified providers across a broad range of everyday needs. Current service categories include:

CeylonServices.lk is a marketplace only. We do not provide any of these services ourselves; services are delivered by independent providers listed on the Platform.

3. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old and legally competent to enter into a contract under Sri Lankan law.
  • You must be a resident of Sri Lanka or a legally registered Sri Lankan business entity.
  • If you register on behalf of a business, you warrant that you have authority to bind that entity.

4. Accounts & Member Code

On registration you will be issued a unique member code (e.g. WDK-00001) that identifies you on the Platform. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials and OTPs confidential. You must not share your account, member code, or OTP with any third party, and you are responsible for all activity under your account.

Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.

5. User Roles

  • Customer — an individual booking or enquiring about a service.
  • Provider — an individual or business offering services in one or more categories.
  • Agent — a canvasser who refers customers to providers and earns commission.
  • Administrator — CeylonServices.lk staff who manage verification, disputes, and platform safety.

6. Provider Obligations

  • Submit accurate NIC and/or Business Registration details for verification.
  • List only services you are legally qualified and, where required, licensed to provide in Sri Lanka.
  • Honour bookings at the price, date, and scope advertised, and respond to enquiries promptly.
  • Keep availability and leave dates up to date to avoid double-booking.
  • Comply with all applicable Sri Lankan laws, including tax, labour, consumer-protection, and sector-specific regulations.
  • Not misrepresent your verification status, qualifications, awards, or affiliations.

7. Agent Obligations

  • Provide accurate bank details for payout processing and keep them up to date.
  • Record canvassed services using the customer’s correct member code.
  • Not submit false or duplicate canvass records; fraudulent claims will forfeit payouts and result in account termination.
  • Represent CeylonServices.lk and its providers honestly when speaking to customers.

8. Customer Obligations

  • Provide accurate contact information and service-location details.
  • Honour agreed bookings and pay providers in accordance with the terms agreed between you and the provider.
  • Leave reviews that are honest and based on actual experience.
  • Treat providers, agents, and other users with respect.

9. Category-Specific Rules

Certain categories carry additional legal or safety obligations. Providers are solely responsible for complying with them:

  • Vehicle, Transport & Emergency Services — valid driving licence, revenue licence, insurance, and any route permits required by the Department of Motor Traffic or National Transport Commission.
  • Food & Daily Needs — compliance with Food Act regulations, local authority health permits, LP gas handling rules, and water-quality standards where applicable.
  • Health & Wellness — valid SLMC, Ayurveda Medical Council, or relevant professional registration; services must not constitute unauthorised medical practice.
  • Education & Training — accurate claims about qualifications; any institution-level services must comply with the Private Tuition / TVEC regulations where applicable.
  • Tourism & Travel — SLTDA registration where the activity requires it (guiding, safari, vehicle rental).
  • Home, Repair & Labour Services — safe work practices, and for electrical, gas, or AC work, any trade certifications required by law.
  • Events & Occasions — venue permissions, noise regulations, and any pyrotechnic or crowd-safety clearances.

CeylonServices.lk does not certify sector-specific licences. Verification on the Platform confirms identity and business registration only — customers should ask providers directly about additional qualifications.

10. Bookings & Cancellations

  • Bookings are contracts between the customer and the provider; CeylonServices.lk is not a party to them.
  • Cancellation, refund, and rescheduling terms are set by the provider and should be clarified before confirming a booking.
  • Providers must mark leave/unavailable dates to prevent bookings they cannot fulfil.
  • Repeated no-shows or last-minute cancellations by either party may result in account suspension.

11. Fees, Payments & Payouts

Basic use of the Platform is free for customers. Providers and agents may be subject to listing fees, commission rates, or payout schedules, which will be disclosed at the point of sign-up or within the relevant dashboard.

  • Agent commissions are calculated on verified, completed services.
  • Payouts are made to the bank account on file, subject to administrator approval.
  • All amounts are quoted in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR) unless stated otherwise.
  • You are responsible for any taxes (including VAT/SSCL where applicable) payable on income earned through the Platform.

12. Reviews & Community Content

Reviews, ratings, comments, and community posts must be based on genuine experience. Defamatory, misleading, spammy, or retaliatory content is not permitted. We may remove or anonymise content that violates these Terms without prior notice.

13. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of Sri Lankan law.
  • Impersonate another person, misuse a member code, or provide false verification documents.
  • Upload malware, scrape the Platform, or attempt to bypass security controls.
  • Harass, defame, threaten, or discriminate against other users.
  • Circumvent the Platform to avoid fees or commissions, or to complete bookings off-platform to the detriment of another user.
  • List services you are not legally authorised to provide, or offer regulated goods/services without the proper licences.
  • Post content that is obscene, hateful, infringing, discriminatory, or misleading.

14. User Content

You retain ownership of the text, images, and documents you upload (“User Content”). By uploading, you grant CeylonServices.lk a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, display, and distribute the User Content as needed to operate and promote the Platform.

You warrant that you own or have the rights to all User Content and that it does not infringe any third-party rights. We may remove content that violates these Terms without notice.

15. Intellectual Property

The CeylonServices.lk name, logo, member-code scheme, source code, design, and platform content (excluding User Content) are owned by CeylonServices.lk and protected by Sri Lankan and international intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works without our prior written consent.

16. Disclaimer

CeylonServices.lk is a marketplace. We do not provide any of the listed services ourselves. Service quality, safety, availability, pricing, qualifications, and delivery are the sole responsibility of the providers listed. While we verify NIC and Business Registration details where submitted, verification is not a guarantee of service quality, outcome, or sector-specific compliance.

The Platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding uninterrupted availability, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose.

17. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Sri Lankan law, CeylonServices.lk shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profit, revenue, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Platform or from any transaction between users. We are not liable for personal injury, property damage, or other loss arising from the actions or omissions of providers, agents, or other users.

Our total aggregate liability for any claim under these Terms shall not exceed the fees you have paid to CeylonServices.lk in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

18. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless CeylonServices.lk, its officers, employees, and contractors from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Platform, your User Content, the services you provide or receive, or your breach of these Terms.

19. Suspension & Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you breach these Terms, submit fraudulent information, or pose a risk to other users. You may close your account at any time by contacting support. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including IP, disclaimers, liability, and indemnity) will continue to apply.

20. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Colombo, Sri Lanka.

21. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via the Platform or by SMS/email. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
